Volunteers needed: Events like ours need your generous help. If you can help by volunteering for race morning duties, please email us - melony.george@mellew.com

ChronoTrack Timing at Dadfest:
Dadfest will use the ChronoTrack timing system, which records your time precisely from start to finish. Your timing tag is now disposable and will come with your bib number when you get your race packet. No more lining up to get your timing chip race morning, and no waiting to have your timing chip retrieved at the finish line! Awards will be based on gun time.
Free health assessment risk screenings!:
If you are 40 years or older you are invited to complete the risk assessment online and register for the free screening. The screening will include a PSA blood test and a digital rectal exam. Urologists from Urology Clinics of North Texas and Dallas Center for Pelvic Medicine are volunteering their time to perform the digital rectal exam.

The screening will take place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. You do not have to be registered for the 5K to participate in the screening. Tell your father, brothers, uncles, friends about the screening as well.

To register go to http://www.diduidid.org and click on the Dadfest Free Prostate Cancer Screening link. We can email you an appointment time.
If you don't want to complete the form online call Angela Clark at 214-345-5030 and she will assist you with scheduling your appointment. We will have Spanish interpreters on site at the screening for those who need an interpreter.

5K Dad and Child Teams:
Because the 5k teams have become so popular we have expanded our age group categories this year. Team times will be based on the combined cumulative times of the Dad & Child. We will have awards for the top three Dad and Male Child teams and top three Dad and Female Child teams in each age group. The age groups based on the child's age are: 0-8, 9-10, 11-12, 13-17, 18-25, and 26+.
The Dad's Day 5K:
Walkers are welcome! We will be running our 18th edition of the Dad's Day 5k at 8:30 am. We will award the top 3 finishers in the following age groups: 0-8, 9-12, 13-15, 16-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-89, 90+. Awards also for the overall and master's male and female finishers. Prostate Cancer Survivors can compete in the survivor division with awards for the top five finishers. Although chip timing affords run events to produce quick fast timing results, it was never intended to be the benchmark for finish order. We feel that this is a foot race against other human beings and not against a computer system. The first one back across the finish line is the winner. If your finish placement is important to you, we suggest you line up in the front rows at the start.
Here are our 5k-team rules:
Anyone that is entered as a team will not be eligible for individual awards. This means if either Dad or child thinks they will win age group awards don't enter as a team.
Your team age group will be determined by the age and sex of the child. So if Dad is 80 and child is a 50-year-old man then they are going to be in the male 26+ group.
Both Dad and child must run the 5k to be a team. A child in a stroller does not count.
Sorry Dad if you have more than one child and you want to be in the team competition, you have to pick one or all of you just compete in the regular 5k
The 50 Yard Dash (Children age 8 and under)
This a great opportunity for the smaller kids to be featured and cheered on while running. We will run waves of children 6-8 at a time so each kid gets that special attention! There will be finisher medals for all kids crossing the finish line. Children 5 & Under can run the 50 Yard Dash (if they are not running the 5k) at no charge as long as an adult has a paid entry. Registration for all children doing the 50 Yard Dash does not need to be done in advance. You only have to sign a liability waiver for your child when you pick up your packet or on race day at the event. We will have plenty of child T-shirts available for all.

Diaper Dash Presented by Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital:
If you have child under the age of 1 and your child is not walking yet, this is your chance to shine. Join us on stage and we will have your child crawl to their dad. It is just a few feet and great fun. No registration is necessary. Just gather by our event stage when we announce the Diaper Dash. We will have prizes for the fastest babies and their dads.

The Dad and Child Look-a-like Contest Presented by WBAP:
You ask what is this? This is nothing but family fun on our Dadfest stage! All we need you to do is show up at our stage right after finishing the 5k with your children and we will bring you up in groups and our Dadfest crowd will vote their approval for the combination that looks the most alike. Great prizes for the top three Dads and their kids.

Dadfest Festival:
As we approach our 20th anniversary, we plan a great after race party and celebration. You do not want to miss it!
Plus come play in the fountains at Galatyn Square!

T-shirts:
Great T-shirts with our event logo will be guaranteed for all entrants signed up before race day. We will have kids T-shirt sizes in limited quantities.
Weather:
Drink plenty of liquids and come to have fun. The temperatures usually start and end in the 80's. All dogs will be barred from the event area.
Parking:
There are plenty of free parking spaces in the area. However we suggest you take DART to the event as the DART Galatyn station in Richardson is next to our event
